So, just off the main plaza in downtown Isla Mujeres is a narrow alleyway. In that said alleyway is a rickety-ass grill. Charring up on that said grill is some downright sultry smelling meat. Sometimes it's slung up; sometimes not. The day I happened upon it, I'd already downed something at Manana, and I could not even think about another morsel of food. But, man...how I regret that right about now. I left the dang island without trying it. The horror.
IF you happen to be strolling near the grocery store and plaza, please glance over to the far southwest corner near the basketball courts and go try what this lady is making. And, then send me photos. I beg of you. As you can see I hit her up from every angle. Just like being in Barcelona, kids.
Funny how those pictures put me in the mind of Belize rather than Isla. Must have it on the brain today. I'll look for her the next time we are there. Love me some "pastor".

Yummmm! Will definitely try to scope this out when I'm back on the Isla in May.
And since I'm staying in the Colonia "cerca del matadero", I'll know where the pork comes from too, heheh

Correcto. Tacos al pastor. Its pork, and the folks that are really good slap pineapple both on the bottom, the middle and the top. The REALLY good vendors have nearly a whole pineapple on top and with a flick of thier wrist, a perfect slice of pineapple flys off the top and drops 2-3ft into that little stack of two corn tortillas in thier hand.

That would be tacos de pastor. She is rarely there, hit and miss. I'll try to catch her up.

By the pictures I'm sure she is preparing tacos al pastor. These tacos are my favorites, they are usually in a small tortilla with cilantro, cebolla and you favority salsa. The best ones I have eaten where made in Coyoacan.
